Mr. Lansekara Atapattu Wasala Mudiyanselage Kapuru Banda Atapattu.
Photograph was taken at the Kandy Lake.  The Temple of the tooth can be seen on the background. The year it was taken approximately was in the mid 1980's when we were Just kids.
Standing  from left to right: Kishan Wattegedara (my brother) , Myself, Gamini Wattegedara (my father), Ravindra Atapattu (son of Mr. Atapattu), Mr. Lansekara Atapattu and Dushanie Atapattu (daughter of Mr. Atapattu). 




The Photograph was taken at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, Kandy. This photograph too was taken approximately in the mid 1980's. Standing from left to right:  Ravindra Atapattu, Kishan Wattegedara, Gamini Wattegedara, Kumari Wattegedara (my mother), myself (positioned in front of my mother), Mr. Lansekara Atapattu, Dushanie Atapattu (positioned in front of Mr.Atapattu), Mallika Atapattu (wife of Mr.Atapattu) and unknown.


Lansekara Atapattu Wasala Mudiyanselage Kapuru Banda Atapattu. Married to Chandresekara Tennakoon Wasala Mudiyanselage Mallika Tennakoon Kumarihamy.

Mr. The Atapattus’ first profession had been an Assistant teacher at the Wanni Kirindigala government school in Nikkaweratiya in the year of 1959. Around the same year he had passed the clerical exam, which opens the door for a post in the clerical staff at the Education Ministry, Colombo. From 1961 to 1978 he was in the clerical staff at the Education Ministry offices in Kurunegala, Chillaw and Colombo respectively. In 1978 he had been appointed to the clerical staff at the Kachcheri in Anuradhapura. His next few years until his retirement in 1993 had been dispensed on the duties at the Kachcheri. His promotion to the post of Administrative officer in the Kurunegala Kachcheri comes in the year of 1984.

Mrs.Atapattu was first employed as a sub post mistress in the Kobeigane post office in the 1960s’.Thereafter, she was working in the same capacity at the Hettipola post office, Kurunegala District superintendent’s office and finally in Maho where she retires on a pension.

The Shrine of God Gale Bandara. The custodian deity of the shrine is said to be Wathhimi Bandara a child born to Buwanekabahu the II (1293 -1303 A.D.)  first King of the Kingdom of Kurunegala and his Muslim escort.There are two shrines located in the vicinity of the Elephants' rock dedicated to God Gale Bandara. Just Married. In this post I've thought of sharing with the reader events that led up to my parents marriage and their blessed married life which lasted 44 yrs until the demise of my mother. The post also shed light on my parents closest relatives and friends who appear on the photographs and documents published herewith. But then again I've not met many of them nor their descendants often and the lack of snapshots in my possession puts a dent in my effort to enlighten the reader. After leaving school my mother's resolution had been to take up Teaching as a profession. Which ultimately does not see it's fruition as she enters the institution of marriage with her life partner and it was my father's idea that she desist her pursuit for the post of a teacher in order to make way for her responsibilities as a house wife.
